Analysis of relationship between genetic and phenotypic similarity of alfalfa mutants inflorescences
Summary.

The experiment attempted to specify the relation between the similarity observed on the molecular level and the phenotypic similarity. Determining the above mentioned connections would enable to evaluate the modifying influence of the environment on the expression of genetic information included in the DNA of a plant. On the basis of the received results, it was concluded that the groups singled out according to their molecular markers are not reflected in the observed variability of the morphological features. The research results thus indicate that there is no relation between the genetic and phenotypic similarity of the examined alfalfa mutants; what is more the results confirm the existence of an interaction between the genotype and the environment.

Key words: alfalfa, genetic similarity, phenotypic similarity
