Use of white cabbage (Brassica oleracea var. capitata) to phytoextraction of heavy metals (Zn, Cd, Cu, Pb) from soil
Summary.

The species belonging to the family Brassicaceae are considered to be useful for phytoremediation of heavy metals from soils. The studies reveal the usefulness of white cabbage for soil purification of the from Zn, Cd, Cu, and Pb by phytoextraction. The selected metals were determined in soil as well as leaves and stems of cabbage grown in this soil, taken from pot (Krakow) and field experiments (Czapielsk). Metals were determined using AAS (atomic absorption spectrometry) techniques such as: flame AAS (Zn, Cd), electrothermal AAS (Cd, Cu, Pb). The obtained results confirm the possibility of using white cabbage in phytoextraction of heavy metals from soil.
