It is aimed to present the set of 10 general principles of sustainable tourism planning in natural protected areas and other terrains of valuable landscape. The concept is a reflection of the author’s opinion as regards ways of accessibility of protected areas for tourism. These principles have strategic character and concern programmes, monitoring and steering of tourist movement in a single protected area as well as complex of protected areas in the region. Applied together, these principles should help to obtain the balance between tourist use and natural-landscape values protection. Tourism is a very important function of protected areas and the need is to develop it in these areas. The new term has been proposed: maximum ecological carrying tourism meaning wide tourist accessibility of an area and maximization of benefits obtained simultaneously with maintaining of quality, quantity and spatial layout of natural landscape values.
