Content of chosen micronutrients in leaves of lettuce (Lactuca sativa L. var. capitata L.) depending on the level and form of the applied iron
Summary.

In experiments with lettuce (Lactuca sativa L. var. capitata L.) ‘Sunny’ variety, the effect of mineral and chelated iron compounds used in different doses, on the content of zinc, manganese and copper in leaves was determined. Plants were grown in spring and autumn in organic substrate. Content of micronutrients was determined with AAS method after wet digestion in a mixture of nitric and perchloric acid in a ratio of 3:1. It was demonstrated that significantly more of zinc and manganese and less copper contained plants fed with mineral form of iron (FeSO4·7H2O, Fe2(SO4)3·H2O) than in the chelated form (FeDTPA, FeEDDHMA, FeIDHA, FeEDTA + DTPA). Regardless of the source of iron, the increase in content of this nutrient in the substrate affected the reduction of the average content of zinc and manganese and increase of the copper content in plants. After application of mineral form of iron in all dosage, content of zinc, manganese and copper in the lettuce was not significantly different from that obtained in the control combination.
