Selectivity of mixture mezotrione + nicosulfuron to some sugar maize varieties
Abstract.

In the years 2005-2007 field experiments on the reaction of 10 sugar maize varieties: ‘Basin’, ‘Challenger’, ‘Jubilee’, ‘Golda’, ‘GH 5022’, ‘Helena’, ‘Shimmer’, ‘Spirit’, ‘Sweet Trophy’ and ‘Sweet Tasty’ to herbicides Callisto 100 SC + Milagro 040 SC and Maister 310 WG were carried out. The herbicides were applied in recommended doses at the growth stage three-four leaves. All herbicides were not quite selective to sugar maize varieties. Not selective were Milagro 040 SC + Callisto 100 SC. Six varieties: ‘Basin’, ‘Challenger’, ‘Golda’, ‘Shimmer’, ‘Sweet Trophy’ and ‘Sweet Tasty’ were at all resistant to the applied herbicides. The least resistant to herbicides were ‘GH 5022’ and ‘Jubilee’. The highest yield of cobs was observed after Callisto 100 SC + Milagro 040 SC application. The lowest yield of cobs was observed on check plots.
