Landscape capacity analysis using digital spatial model
Summary.

Contemporary GIS applications are based on data models of the terrain surface, as well as of the terrain cover. Thanks to this, the model required for landscape analyses is obtained automatically. This model can be supplemented with additional data from various layers of the system, which are necessary for a particular analysis. The environment of 3D terrain model gives a possibility to obtain visibility charts and maps, which can be used for points and lines of view definition, determination of landscape transformations parameters and data delivery for a view assessment. Landscape capacity estimation is the specific kind of analysis that is performed in the multidimensional environment. It enables to define parameters of transformations, regarding their interference with a landscape. This method gives possibility to calculate total objects volume, which can be introduced without any impact on landscape. Additionally, it gives the objective criterion for solutions specification that will increase landscape capability and investment possibilities in the protected landscape.
