The research of benthic invertebrates was conducted in June, July and September 2006 on three selected sites on the Pysznica River, to which waters from the restoration area – flow the Pyszka wetland in the Parsęta basin. Invertebrates have been used for the assessment of ecological condition of water and were the guidelines for analysis of biotic indices. Biotic indices were used in this study showed that conditions in sites no. 2 and 3, which are directly under the Pyszka wetland waters influence, were more favourable for macroinvertebrates than in site no. 1 – this station is outside the restoration area. Comparing the results of the work to similar, previous studies conducted in rivers belonging to the Parsęta basin, it can be stated that only BMWP-PL index had favourable verification values of macroinvertebrates density and diversity which occurred in the stations of the Pysznica River. BMWP-PL is the most superlative index appliccable to assessment restoration operations.
