Revalorisation of postindustrial areas as a foundation for recreation and leisure development in town
Abstract. The presented article depicts how to solve the problem of organizing leisure time availing postindustrial areas pointing out the overriding of ecological system of the town preserving its cultural heritage. To illustrate the method of realizing the idea of complex solution to the problem Łódź has been selected. It is a city of local civilization where transformation followed by structural transformation on a large scale. The area of the Jasienia river valley is indicated as the most representative one. There exists an opportunity of creation of a spatial concept of new functions and the city’s historical landscape revalorisation. The idea is to oppose the present domination of commercial transformation of urban postindustrial areas but to recover public areas on the other hand.
