Budget of nitrogen and phosphorus in the Jeziorsko Reservoir
Abstract. In 2002-2004 the external loading of the Jeziorsko Reservoir with total nitrogen and phosphorus was assessed. Inflow from the indirect catchment (with the water of the Warta River), from the direct catchment (areal sources, dispersed sources) and onto the surface of the reservoir (atmospheric precipitation, bathers) was estimated. The external loading of the Jeziorsko Reservoir with total nitrogen from external sources per 1 m2 of the reservoir surface area ranged from 161.0 (year 2000) to 238.0 (year 1998) g N m-2 y-1, and with the total phosphorus from 8.9 (year 2000) to 10.1 (year 1999) g P m-2 y-1. The highest percentage of nutrient inflow to the reservoir was that with the Warta River water, which input from 87.4 to 91.4% of nitrogen and from 77.9 to 80.9% of phosphorus. The contribution of other sources to the total nutrient load of the reservoir was much lower and did not exceed 19.1% of their total input.
